This year’s picnic will be at the Band Camp, the same site as last year. The picnic will start at 1 pm and end around 7:00 pm. The fishing in the six acre lake is not a scheduled activity but the gates will be open at 7 am and you can come early and fish if you are so inclined.
We will have a casting game similar to last years, it starts at 2:00 pm.
The picnic menu will be geared more along the lines of a traditional picnic; serving will start 5:30 pm.
We will not have any program this year.
As you know this event is a major fundraiser and funds saved from the above reductions will go into drawing prizes. This will improve the odds that you may come home with just the piece of fly fishing equipment you always wanted. The club drawings start at 6:30 pm.
Club camaraderie is what keeps our organization going and this event is the perfect activity for strengthening our fly fishing bonds. Make it a point to talk to someone you do not normally talk to at the picnic.

Team
Members participating in this game will be divided into two groups by random number drawings. If there are odd numbers of players, the player with the highest number drawn will play for both teams. Each team will select a team captain who is responsible for game strategies as well as validating results and enforcing rules of the game.
Equipment
A two, four, or six piece fly rod up to 9 foot long, with floating line will be used for the game. There is no weight limit on the rods. If you don't have one that fits the description the club will provide one.
Field
The game will be played in a three feet wide, one hundred feet long lane.
Casting
Half rod casting - Players are required to cast with a half section of the fly rod (up to 4 ½ feet long).
Off body casting Players are required to cast with rod tip and fly line on the opposite side of the casting arm.
Offhand casting Players are required to cast with their non-primary hand.
Back cast Players are required to release their cast on back cast. They should be facing their back toward the target.
Game
Players are required to make all four different casting techniques as listed above. Each player will be given up to three chances to achieve the longest cast within the lane marked.
Once a player makes a valid cast, he/she will accept or reject the result. If the player accepts the result, the score will be recorded. If the player rejects the result, he/she may make additional casts, up to a total of three to make a valid cast.
When a player rejects a valid cast and does not make a valid cast within three casts, he/she will receive zero points for the cast.
When a player does not make a valid cast within three casts, he/she will receive zero points for the cast.
A team captain can consult with a player concerning acceptance of rejection of the results.
The longest valid cast for each player will be recorded. The cumulative sum of all players on each team will be tallied. The team with the highest score will be the winner of the game.
